About the Internship Programme
National Health Mission- Tamil Nadu’s Internship Programme is a unique opportunity for any aspiring public health professional to get hands-on experience and insights into the functioning of the health system of Tamil Nadu. As a pioneer in several public health areas like Maternal Health, Non-Communicable Diseases, Communicable Diseases, Trauma and E-Health, NHM-TN offers an exciting platform for anyone interested to learn about the administrative and financing aspects of healthcare. Throughout the Internship, interns at NHM-TN will have the opportunity to attend different stakeholder meetings, field visits and performance reviews to gain deeper insights into health system challenges. The Internship will also equip interns with key skills like communication, writing, data analysis and reporting which are critical for a career in public health. At the end of the Internship, every Intern is expected to have at least one key output related to their attachment in the form of a report or presentation with findings or recommendations that will help advance the efforts and activities of NHM TN. In this regard, we expect all Interns to commit to a minimum period of 3 months for the programme and will not accept candidates unable to stay for that duration. Interested interns may also be able to extend their internship period at the discretion of their mentor and the Mission Director NHM TN.
How do you apply?
NHM-TN has launched an Interest Registration Form (linked below) where individuals interested to join our programme can register on our database. Every candidate is then individually assessed based on their qualifications, experience and motivation. Due to the high volume of applications received throughout the year, please note that we are only able to reach out to successful candidates. As we have a limited number of spots, registering through the form does not guarantee a place in our programme. However, candidates are asked to specify the time period of their availability for an internship, so we can reach out to them at a later stage if not able to take them in immediately. The Form also offers the chance for candidates to select up to three areas of interest so they can be attached with an appropriate mentor to guide them during their time at NHM TN.
